David Draughon was born on September 16, 1950, in Meridian, Mississippi, to parents Thomas and Minnie Mae Draughon. He grew up with five brothers, Thomas, Richard, Jackie, and Johnny, all of whom preceded him in death, leaving him with his youngest brother, Donald. David’s childhood was filled with playing sports and forming lasting friendships that would follow him into adulthood.
In 1986, David moved to Thornton, Colorado, with his wife Christy and their three children: Greg, Shelley, and Ben. The family settled into a new life in Colorado, and David dedicated the rest of his years to work and family.
