Sanders Promoted to Executive Director of the Oxford Housing Authority

In Oxford, a new chapter is about to unfold at the Oxford Housing Authority (OHA). With the impending retirement of the current executive director, Jonathan Hill, the OHA has named a successor from within its ranks. Housing and Urban Development expert, Teasha Sanders, was selected for her profound understanding of the OHA’s mission and unparalleled dedication over her 14 years of service.

Sanders: A Trailblazer in Urban Housing

Sanders’ promotion was reinforced during the Oxford Board of Aldermen meeting last Tuesday by OHA board member, Stephen Bramlett. “We are turning a page,” Bramlett announced. “Teasha has a profound understanding of the mission of the Housing Authority. She consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty… She’s a walking encyclopedia of all HUD regulations.”

Notably, Sanders has spent 14 years cultivating her skills and knowledge within the OHA, ascending through the ranks, and recently occupying the position of deputy director. Her promotion, effective from July 1, will see her take charge of the Oxford Housing Authority (OHA) and the Mississippi Regional Housing Authority II (MRHA II).

Roles and Responsibilities of the New Executive Director

As the new executive director, Sanders will be steering the operations of four housing developments in Oxford, which includes C.B. Webb, Laurel Grove, Willow Knoll, and Wayne Johnson. On the regional front, through the MRHA II, she will oversee the voucher program, extending her influence beyond the boundaries of Oxford.

Sanders’ Outlook on her New Role

Sanders expressed her deep commitment to her new role during the Board meeting. “This is not merely a job for me, but a profound responsibility that I’m fully committed to fulfilling with dedication and diligence,” she voiced confidently. “My dedicated staff and I are committed to ensuring the continued success of both programs. Thank you for putting your trust in me.”

Looking Forward

As Sanders prepares to take the helm in July, Oxford residents can rest assured. They have in their corner a dedicated leader with a proven record of dedication and competence. As she strides into this critical role, she carries not just the aspirations of the housing authority but the hope of countless individuals and families who rely on these vital services. Truly, this is a momentous time in the history of the Oxford Housing Authority.

The Departing Director

The outgoing director Jonathan Hill served admirably from 2018 till present and will officially retire at the end of June. His influence and contributions to OHA during his tenure were significant and will undoubtedly be remembered. However, every end is a new beginning, and although Hill’s service will end, the OHA will carry his legacy forward under the capable leadership of Teasha Sanders.
