Oxford, Mississippi – On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, the University of Mississippi hosted its annual Fall Convocation at the Sandy and John Black Pavilion, where students, faculty, staff, and administration gathered to mark the beginning of the academic year. This year’s keynote speaker was Arthur Brooks, a renowned author and social scientist, who spoke on the topic of happiness and well-being.

Brooks is the author of the popular book “Build the Life You Want: The Art and Science of Getting Happier,” which is this year’s selected reading for incoming first-year students as part of the university’s common reading initiative.
