Born on September 7, 1950, in Ottawa, Kansas, Steven was the oldest of five children born to Glen I. Anderson and DeLores (Horst) Anderson. He spent his formative years in Topeka, Kansas, graduating from Topeka West High School in 1968, before pursuing higher education. He earned a degree from the University of Kansas Business School in 1972, marking the beginning of a successful career.
Steven’s professional journey began working for his father’s construction company, a role that would take him across the Midwest. He founded an earthwork software company in 1986 and later transitioned to a large construction software company in Portland, Oregon, in 1990. Throughout his career, he mentored many individuals in the enterprise software field, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Steven was known for his deep love of reading and technology. In 1981, he married Susan L.
