He graduated from Central High School in Oxford, Mississippi, in 1968 and went on to pursue higher education at Alcorn A & M College (now Alcorn State University), where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology/pre-med in 1972.
Adams dedicated over 44 years of his career to AT&T, where he served as an associate manager in the Information Technology Department. In 2001, he and his wife, Emma Adams, co-founded Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home in Vicksburg, which provided professional and compassionate funeral services to Vicksburg and surrounding areas.

Throughout his life, Adams was deeply involved in various community organizations. He was an active member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Jackson, under the leadership of Dr. Jerry Young. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Garden Memorial Park in Jackson. Visitation will be held at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home in Vicksburg on August 17, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m., with an additional visitation on August 18, 2025, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Willis and Sons Funeral Home. Another visitation will take place at New Hope Baptist Church on the evening of August 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., culminating in an Omega Memorial Service at 6 p.m.
