Authorities have announced a $4,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the suspect involved in the shooting death of Corey Adams, an 18-year-old freshman football player at the University of Mississippi. Adams was fatally shot on the night of July 19, 2025, in Cordova, Tennessee, located just outside Memphis. The investigation is being conducted by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 10:15 p.m. on Fern Glade Cove, where Adams was discovered shot inside a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition to Adams, four other men suffered injuries from the incident and were transported to local hospitals, where they received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. They have since been released from the hospital.

Evidence at the scene showed multiple shell casings, indicating the use of at least one rifle and one handgun during the shooting. Notably, at the time of the incident, there was a pool party taking place nearby, attended by approximately 100 people.

Adams’ Background and Notable Achievements

Corey Adams hailed from New Orleans, where he played for the New Orleans Panthers and the Chiefs. He graduated from Edna Karr High School, earning All-State honors and being named the Class 5A defensive player of the year. Adams enrolled at Ole Miss in January 2025 and was recognized as one of Louisiana’s top recruits, joining the Ole Miss Rebels football team as a defensive lineman. His tragic death has left a profound impact on his teammates and the athletic community.

Funeral Arrangements

Funeral services for Adams are set for 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Fifth African Baptist Church in New Orleans, with burial following at Restlawn Park Cemetery in Avondale. The Ole Miss football program has expressed its heartbreak regarding Adams’ untimely passing, extending thoughts and condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
