Ole Miss baseball has secured Marko Sipila, a right-handed pitcher from San Diego State, who has officially committed to the team for the upcoming 2026 season. The announcement, made public on social media on June 21, 2025, marks Sipila as the fifth addition to Ole Miss’s roster this offseason as the team reshapes its pitching lineup.

Sipila, who stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 205 pounds, hails from Independence, Minnesota. His collegiate baseball career began at Colorado-Colorado Springs before he transferred to San Diego State, where he saw significant development. During the 2025 season, his earned run average (ERA) improved drastically from 10.69 in his freshman year to 3.91 as a junior. In his third year with the Aztecs, he made 12 starts, achieving a record of 4-3.

In 2025, Sipila struck out 74 batters while only walking 25 in a total of 71.1 innings pitched, reflecting a strong command on the mound. His performance earned him a spot on the All-Mountain West team and highlighted his abilities, as he limited opposing batters to a .256 batting average and threw 65% of his pitches for strikes.
