OXFORD, Miss. — No. 2 Georgia beat No. 10 Ole Miss 42-7 on Saturday night, Nov. 7, in Oxford, sending the Rebels to 6-3 and punching a hole in their playoff path.

Ole Miss went backward on its opening series. After the punt, Nate Frazier broke a 46-yard run and Craig Dandridge Jr. finished the drive with a 4-yard touchdown rush. Gunner Stockton later dropped a 58-yard scoring throw to Talyn Taylor, and Georgia led 14-0.

Lucas Carneiro then missed a 56-yard try for Ole Miss. Georgia answered with an end-around scoring toss to tight end Ethan Barbour and a 15-yard Stockton run, making it 28-0 by halftime. The Rebels punted four times before the break, and Trinidad Chambliss threw an interception to KJ Bolden after a 16-yard sack.

One Georgia series was held up when students in the home stands tossed wristbands and drinks onto the field to protest a pass-interference call. Stockton still found Taylor in the end zone after the break for a 35-0 lead before Shekai Mills-Knight scored on an 8-yard run. Taylor added a 65-yard touchdown catch that locked in the 42-7 final.

Georgia piled up 296 rushing yards, its high for the season, after grinding out 127 on the ground in the first quarter. Chambliss finished 18 of 34 for 170 yards without a scoring pass. Ole Miss managed 66 yards rushing on 31 carries and 252 yards of total offense, both lows for the year.

Coach Pete Golding said the result caught him off guard and that the staff had not prepared the team well enough, even after a solid week of practice. Chambliss said Georgia kept bringing pressure and finished with four sacks. The Rebels play next on Saturday, Nov. 14, in Norman, Okla., against Oklahoma.
