OXFORD, Miss. — The Ole Miss women’s basketball team starts its 2026-27 season on Monday, Nov. 2, when the No. 19 Rebels host Alcorn State in a Kids Day game at the SJB Pavilion in Oxford, Miss. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. Central, and the game streams on SEC Network+ with Jake Hromada on play-by-play.

Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin begins her ninth season in Oxford with a 149-107 record there. Her teams have reached five straight NCAA Tournaments, put together five consecutive 20-win seasons and made two Sweet 16 runs. This year’s roster leans heavily on newcomers, with ten transfers plus freshman Charleen Hudson joining returning reserves Lauren Jacobs and Desrae Kyles.

SEC coaches and media both picked Ole Miss seventh in the league. Cooper made the coaches’ preseason All-SEC first team, and Richard landed on the coaches’ second team.

History favors the home side. The Rebels are 19-1 all-time against the Lady Braves, and the lone loss came in the first meeting back in 1980. McPhee-McCuin is 5-0 against Alcorn State, including a 104-48 rout on Dec. 8, 2020, that set a pavilion scoring record. Ole Miss is also 49-3 in home openers.

Alcorn State, coached by Nate Kilbert, went 17-14 last season and earned a WNIT berth. The Lady Braves were picked fourth in the SWAC preseason poll and bring back nine players, including senior forward Lauren Nelson.

The Rebels stay home for three more games after this one, hosting North Alabama on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m., UAlbany on Nov. 11 and Louisiana Tech on Sunday, Nov. 15, before a trip to Ohio State on Nov. 18.
