OXFORD, Miss. — Second-ranked Ole Miss held off No. 6 Georgia Southern by six points Saturday in Oxford, winning their rifle match 4723-4717 in the Rebels’ final home appearance of the fall.
The difference came early. Ole Miss shot 2349 in smallbore against 2337 for the Eagles, building a 12-point cushion. Georgia Southern won the air rifle half 2380-2374, but that only cut the margin in half.
Audrey Gogniat, the two-time reigning NCAA air rifle champion, posted the top aggregate of the day at 1186. She led the team in smallbore with a 592 and added a 594 in air rifle. Jordan de Jesus had the Rebels’ best air rifle score, a 596.
Ole Miss placed four shooters among the top six overall. Gracie Dinh, an All-American, was fourth with an 1181, and de Jesus and Kamdyn McFarland tied at 1178 to take fifth and sixth. Regan Diamond rounded out the Rebels’ counting scores with an 1166.
The win protected a lofty ranking. Ole Miss climbed to No. 2 in the latest CRCA national poll, trailing only top-ranked West Virginia, and Gogniat came in averaging an 1188.5 aggregate this season, fourth-best in the country. De Jesus arrived on a high as well after sweeping the top scores in smallbore, air rifle and aggregate on day one at No. 11 Air Force.
The match also brought a familiar face back to Oxford. Former Rebel standout Lea Horvath, a nine-time All-American at Ole Miss, is now an assistant coach for Georgia Southern. With the home schedule finished, the Rebels close 2026 on an extended road trip.
